It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Design Contest WIN 4000 POINTS, 20$ AND MORE!I've wanted to hold a design contest for a long time now, and finally I've gathered enough points to do it

What I'm looking for:
Everything! Wolves, foxes, fennec foxes, ferrets, servals, bobcats, tigers, other big cats, small cats, deers, dragons, gryphons, dogs, birds, hybrids, original species.. bring it!
I'm leaving the details to your imagination, but here are some things I really like:
-White base color with black and red markings<33 (mostly on canines)
-Cute and fluffy things! No need to go all big eyes and oversized heads, but animals with fur. Creepy and slimy things just aren't my thing.. Still don't be afraid to make something dark/evil
-Anything tribal
-Native american stuff
-Feathers!
-Tawny, golden, brown, white, red, blue, cyan, gray, black (well, not all combined)
-I like more natural base colors, but with smaller markings in unnatural colors like blue or red
-Long tails, big/long

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

Favorite coloring style?

But anywho, to keep working on the number of styles I'm able to use in order to broaden my client base, I want you guys' opinions. Show me some examples of coloring you guys have liked from other comics or colorists! I'm going to try to analyze and practice other styles so I can get even more flexible and I need ideas.

Here are my current faves and some thoughts:

Dylan McCrae isn't too diverse, but I like his work a lot. He seems to stick with his signature pallette of bold, vibrant hues and lots of pink and blue. His colors might look out of place on darker stories (seeing a Mccrae-colored Hellblazer would be pretty amusing), but they work for the whimsical, fun stories and subjects he colors (lines by Corey Lewis, Bryan Lee O'Malley, Shane Hillman, etc).

Another guy with a limited range of coloring that I love nonetheless is James Stokoe. He mostly colors his own lines in comics like ORC STAIN or WONTON SOUP. So many gradients! You could find every color imaginable in one of his illustrations, but it would still hold to a specific theme without being too busy.

Perhaps my all-time favorite colorist is Jose Villarrubia. He's done almost all of Paul Pope's colored work and a lot of comics all over the place. Usually using flat colors with minimal shading, he plays off of the line art so well. Very tasteful and classic, and with modern colorist boldness.

Nice! He's definitely one of my favorite artists right now. I hope I can pin down a consistent, cool-looking coloring technique like he has.

I definitely love your coloring, too. Very complimentary to the subjects you color, and I love the manga pages you've colored for fun. How much of your coloring process was learned from your time at CCAD? I'm starting there in the fall, and digital coloring is one thing I'd like to focus on a bit while I'm there.

Didn't realize you're in Columbus too! Well most of what I do was self taught but color concept classes and figure drawing really helped me out a lot. But I was a Time Based major, I think the Illustration major would have been more helpful for my coloring
